Dr. Avizienis was one of the founders of Czesław Miłosz Birthplace Foundation in 1995. Now he is its director. The principal goals of the Foundation
• To restore and protect Šeteniai, the birthplace of Czesław
• To promote the knowledge and appreciation of the
ideas and of the literary works of Cz Miłosz.
• To nurture creative
interchanges between writers, scholars, and students of Lithuania
and its neighboring countries.
• To establish and maintain at Šeteniai
a conference center dedicated to the attainment of the above goals.
To raise funds for the support of the Foundation’s activities and
to promote the protection of the Nevėžis river valley
In 2002 Dr. Avizienis was elected to Kaunas City Counsil and was the Chairman
of the committee of urban development and ecology.
Since 2003 Dr. Avizienis is a member of Homeland Union. He was its candidate
to European Parliament. Currently Dr. Avizienis was an advisor of
Kaunas City mayor.
